We are pleased to present Souvenir of the American Holocaust, a talk with Fran Ilich about his position, work and a long-term plan.
Fran Ilich (born in 1975 in Tijuana, Mexico) is a multimedia artist, essayist and novelist who works with creative practices of hacktivism, investment banking and narrative media based in New York City. He has participated in ARCO, Madrid; Berlinale Talent Campus; Documenta 12, Kassel; Transmediale, Berlin; How Latitudes Become Forms, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis and the Festival Mundial de la Digna Rabia, Mexico City.
Deslave is a project space for the discussion and exhibition of contemporary art, with an emphasis on performative, digital and conceptual practices as well as experimentation on mediums and non-traditional modes of expression. The project maintains an interest to act as a collaborative platform for the generation of affection among those involved and the proposal of social or aesthetic concerns through a critical dialogue. Currently located in Tijuana, it is run by Mauricio Muñoz and Andrew Roberts.
